Who We Are

We’re a close, motivated team on a big mission to change trajectories for families, communities and, ultimately the larger nonprofit sector. New Story is headquartered in San Francisco, with a smaller team located in Atlanta. Since starting about 3 years ago, we’ve raised over $13M, and have funded 1,300+ homes in 11 communities around the world. Our journey has taken us through Y Combinator to being named one of Fast Company’s 2017 Most Innovative Companies In The World. We are fortunate to be backed by excellent partners and advisors.

A Welcoming Workplace for All

New Story is a company at the forefront of social impact and technology. We build homes for families across the globe living in survival mode. We make this happen with innovative technology that makes our work more effective and we share our tech, processes, and learnings with others in the non-profit space so they can scale and grow as well. We know we will only succeed if we have a team who brings a wide variety of perspectives and backgrounds. Our team grew up around the world, from Turkey to Georgia to Venezuela, and welcome all applicants, regardless of background, to apply. We work hard to create a welcoming culture of shared values and radical candor.

Benefits and Perks

Change Trajectories. New Story started with building homes and now we’re on a mission to change the entire nonprofit sector. As a brand experience associate, you’ll work directly with donors and help amplify our brand to impact more families living in survival mode. You’ll also get to see the impact on the ground in the countries we work.

Premium Health Care: We believe in thriving communities and that starts with our team being happy and healthy. This is why we offer generous health insurance, dental and vision care. We also offer a monthly stipend so you can invest in your own wellness and health.

Time off on your terms: Sure, we have unlimited vacation and you can take time for sickness, family, and fun as needed. But more than just words on a list, we believe in the value of taking time to reconnect and take care of yourself. We’ll ensure you’re taking time off to better yourself (and have fun).

About the Role

New Story is looking for a Brand Experience Associate to join our team and help amplify our impact. You’ll work closely with our Chief Brand Officer, Sarah, to highlight New Story externally and to our donors. You’ll develop relationships, guide donors through their process from donation to family move-in, and you’ll amplify messages through a variety of written content.

About you:

You’re an exceptional writer

Your writing skills perfectly balance creativity and professionalism. We’re not looking for a robot with perfect grammar, but rather someone who can write in such a way people want to read it. You’ll know how to make jokes in your copy while maintaining professionalism AND you’ll know how to catch grammatical errors.

You’re Ambitious and Humble

We look for team members who have the combination of personal humility and intense professional will. We constantly learn from each other, admit our mistakes, and have the drive to better ourselves every day.

You Think Fast

This role will work directly with donors to give them the best experience possible. You’ll be managing multiple priorities and lots of people who want your help. As such, you must have the ability to think fast (and well) to best serve our audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead New Story Campaigners to successfully funded campaigns (Talk with them, understand objectives, provide helpful materials, and check-in along the way.)
  • Write ongoing donor updates to existing donors to keep them engaged in the approximately 10 months from donation to when their family moves-in.
  • Provide specific support for marketing efforts including:
    • Social media content
    • Social media reporting
    • Email marketing automation and funnels
    • Editing & scheduling of Medium posts
  • Donor engagement through:
    • Gratitude – we love to surprise and delight our donors
    • Relationship building
  • Internal planning:
    • Allocating funds
    • Associating donations to campaigns

The must haves

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • 2-3 years relevant experience
  • Experience with marketing automation and social media (publishing & reporting)
  • Unbelievable attention to detail
  • Self-starter who’s extremely motivated to create excellent work that changes lives

Bonus Points

  • Design experience
  • Video editing and/or creation
  • Experience in international development
  • Spanish and/or French fluency
