Impact Data Manager

New Story is looking for a dynamic team member to build and own our impact data program.

We believe the best analysts are storytellers with technical and analytical skills in their toolkit. In this role, you’ll be working on our Operations Team to design experiments, analyze pre/post-intervention datasets, create visualizations and draw insights.

This team member will use data to help determine which home iterations we should pursue, share our impact with donors and communicate learnings with the global housing sector. This role is about using data to test hypotheses, improve operations, maximize and share our impact.

This role is a major opportunity for leadership and autonomy as you will have ownership over the direction of our data program. No prior experience in housing needed, but experience in social impact work is helpful.

About You

You’re technical

You’re comfortable running descriptive and correlational statistical tests in Excel, SPSS, Stata, or R and visualizing results in platforms like Tableau or Chart.io.

You can lead a team

You have experience coordinating with team members in the field, and can effectively plan out and manage survey and data collection sprints with researchers in person and remotely.

You’re tenacious and humble

You have a very high standard of excellence in all that you do, and you’re obsessed with learning and growing.

You have a team of founders mindset

Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of baseline and impact data for New Story Communities.
  • Conduct analysis on local and existing demographic data.
  • Work with our COO to lead and continually support evolving impact goals and metrics.
  • Gather data from multiple sources and cohesively compile and create automated dashboards in Tableau and Lookr.
  • Analyze, draw insights and make recommendations to improve operational impact.

Simply put: we should be iterating on our products and processes based on your data-driven recommendations.

The Must Haves
  • Demonstrated expertise in taking raw data to strategic analysis
  • Ability to perform on demand quantitative and qualitative data analysis such as regression, clustering
  • Experience working with statistical software packages (R, GIS, Stata, SPSS, Excel)
  • Fluency in Tableau, Plot.ly or other Data Visualization tools
  • Bachelor’s or above in Math, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Business or related field
  • A keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data before relying upon it
  • Proven track record of working well in a collaborative team setting
