The Software Engineer will be responsible for writing clean, testable code for both our current and future software products. They will work with the software team as well as our field team to understand our users’ needs and then work with the team to develop the right solutions.

As a Software Engineer at New Story, you’ll be able to directly see the value of your code. As each of our products improves, so does our impact. You’ll also get to work with a team of people who both value our work, but also value our craft. We push ourselves to continually learn new things through lunch and learns, attending conferences, while ensuring each team member has what they need to do their best work.



  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Work with product manager to meet specification needs
  • Recommend software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and refine the software
  • Document programming tasks and procedures
  • Perform routine software maintenance



  • Spanish and English Professional Fluency
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript (specifically React)
  • Proficiency in development workflow (Git, Pull Requests, Deployments, Environments)
  • Experience working with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL & PostgreSQL)
  • Detail oriented with strong critical thinking skills
  • Bonus: Familiarity with React Native
